Timus Connect User Guide: Simple and Secure Access

Welcome to Timus Connect! This application is your gateway to securely accessing company resources from anywhere, ensuring your data is protected under the Zero Trust security framework.

1. Installation and Setup

A. Getting the Application

How you receive the application depends on your organization's setup:

Deployment MethodWhat to Expect
RMM / Automated InstallThe application is typically installed silently by your IT administrator (MSP) using a Remote Monitoring and Management (RMM) tool. You will not need to manually download or install it.
Manual InstallationYou will receive a direct download link via email. Once installed, you will proceed to sign in.

B. First-Time Sign-In

Your sign-in process depends on how your account was provisioned:

Account ProvisioningWhat You Do
RMM Deployment (with Token)The system identifies your currently signed-in user email address automatically. You may not need to manually enter credentials.
Manual User CreationYou will need your email address and the password you previously set up (via the welcome email).
Identity Provider (e.g., Entra/Azure AD)You submit your email address and are redirected to your company's standard login page to complete authentication, including any required Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).

2. Connecting and Disconnecting

A. Initial Connection to Gateway

Once signed in, the application will prompt you to connect. Click the Connect toggle to complete the secure connection to the Timus Gateway.

B. Automatic (Always-On) Connection

  • If your organization requires constant protection (common for company-provided devices), your Agent Profile is configured for Always-On.

  • The secure connection will establish automatically upon sign-in, and you will not have the ability to disconnect. The status will remain "Connected" or "Secured." This is a normal and expected configuration.

C. Manual Disconnection (If Allowed)

If your Agent Profile allows disconnection, you may have one of two processes:

Disconnection TypeProcess
No Admin ApprovalClick the Disconnect switch, My.Timusnetworks.com site will open for user provide a required reason for the disconnection, and then return to the connect application and click disconnect again.
Admin Approval RequiredClicking disconnect will direct you to the My.Timusnetworks.com site. You must submit the disconnection request and wait for administrator approval before you can successfully disconnect the client.

3. Troubleshooting and Support

A. Connection Failure

If the app repeatedly fails to connect or remains in a pending state:

  1. Verify your local internet connection is working (try browsing a public website).

  2. Attempt to sign out and sign back into the Timus Connect app.

  3. If the problem persists, contact your IT Support team immediately.

B. Privacy and Security

Timus Connect provides a secure connection that separates your work traffic from your personal traffic.

  • Work Traffic: All traffic related to accessing your company's secured applications and data is encrypted and passes through the secure Timus Gateway, where security policies are enforced (e.g., malware scanning, web filtering).

  • Personal Traffic (Split Tunnel): Standard internet traffic (like browsing a news site or streaming service) is usually not routed through the company network. This ensures your personal activity remains private and doesn't slow down the corporate connection.
