This guide explains how to properly integrate your DNSFilter environment with Timus.
1. Sign in to DNSFilter
Please log in to your DNSFilter dashboard using the link below:
https://app.dnsfilter.com/login
2. Create a New Site
After signing in:
- Go to Deployments → Sites
- Click on Add Site
3. Add Your Timus Gateway Public IP Address
- Click the Add button
- Enter your Timus Gateway Public IP address
Note:
You can find this IP address in Timus Manager:
- Go to Timus Manager → Sites
- Click the three dots at the end of the row
- Select Details
- The IP address will be shown at the top right as IP Address
After entering the IP:
- Save it
- Click Save Site to complete the setup in DNSFilter
4. Check Site Status
- Go back to Deployments → Sites
- At this stage, the site status will appear as Inactive (this is expected)
5. Copy DNSFilter Resolver IPs
In the DNSFilter dashboard, you will see the DNS resolvers at the bottom-middle of the page:
- IPv4 Primary
- IPv4 Secondary
Please copy both IP addresses
6. Configure DNS Settings in Timus
- Go to Timus Manager → Sites
- Click the three dots and select Edit for your gateway
- Open the Name Server tab
Then:
- Remove any existing DNS entries (such as 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1)
- Add the DNSFilter Primary and Secondary IP addresses
- Click Save
7. Wait for Synchronization
- The synchronization process may take up to 15 minutes
- You can monitor the status under DNSFilter → Deployments → Sites
Once the integration is completed, the status will change to:
➡️ Protected
8. Usage
After the integration is complete:
- You can use DNSFilter features such as category-based filtering
- You may use both Timus Web Filter and DNSFilter together
- Or choose to use only one of them, based on your needs
